The Monte | The Avant | The Vibe | The Talon | How-To's | Dad's Cars | The Others

February 28th, 2006 - 8:20 PM Sorry about the lack of updates, I managed to get married and buy a house since the last date. Life has been rather hectic, and my attention has been focused elsewhere. I'm working on updating the site though, a few cars have gone, and a few cars have joined.

April 12th, 2005 - 9:10 PM I know I haven't updated the site in a while, but I just added about 5 pages to the monte section. I've pulled the body off the frame, replaced the floor pan, and have started upgrading my vortecs.

October 31st, 2004 - 9:45 PM The current progress in a few pictures.

October 12th, 2004 - 11:14 PM Added a section for the timing belt in the talon and doing u-joints on the Jimmy.

August 2nd, 2004 - 1:05 PM So here's the deal. I've been rather negligent in updating this page, mostly because I've been so busy. I graduated from college, got hired as a software developer, and moved across the state, all in the span of about 2 months. As such, I still don't have my main computer back up, so I haven't been able to get at any of my notes or pictures or even the upload information. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to get it back up.

So onto the cars. Here's what's happened to each of them.

85 Monte - just more parts collection, nothing real important. The 383 is up on the engine stand, and I have a very large order to place with Summit for the rest of my stuff. Actually, I just sent out payment today for 1.6:1 self aligning roller tip rockers for my vortecs.
83 Monte - still a parts car. I stole the battery out of it, but that's about it.
83 Caprice - For sale. Smokes quite a bit now, I beleive maybe one of the rings has gone bad. $400 and you can drive it home.
93 LeBaron - Finished the trans swap. I have a bunch of information on the wiring to eventually post. Everything seemed to work, put ~250 miles on it over the week. Went to drive one and a half hours down here to my new job (on the day before I was supposed to start) and the trans died 75% of the way there. No idea what happened; I think it may be the torque convertor. This is also for sale - $1000, come and tow it away.
92 S10 - No changes, did an oil change. Going to have to do something about the bed, most of the mounts are rotted on it.
94 Jimmy - Swapped out the front differential and turns out that it wouldn't fit. Passenger side extension would line up with the bolt holes, and the yoke hit the flywheel cover. Turns out a bracket got pushed in so that the differential wouldn't go in straight. This is the same mount the lower control arm bolts to. So it went back to the body shop to have the bracket pulled out. I got that back this weekend, and needless to say it seems to have fixed quite a few problems including the steering. I took it for an alignment, so hopefully I just have to put in the driveshaft and axles and refill the differential and I'll be good to go. Then the s10 will officially become "mine".

And the big news - there is a new car in my collection. A 95 Eagle Talon. Unfortunately (and I found this out after i bought the car), it has the same 4 speed that the lebaron has, just a newer version, and it already has issues. Downshifts into first are pretty rough, and it chatters on a first to second upshift. I am just babying it right now. I'm putting 450 miles a week on it, and haven't had any major issues. It is an ESi, so it has the dodge neon 2.0 DOHC in it. Got a pretty good deal on it, previous owner drove it under a truck with a trailer hitch. Brought a radiator, installed it, and tried to drive it home. Lower radiator hose came loose about 10 mins later, a new hose clamp and I drove it the rest of the 2 hours back home. I have made myself promise not to mod this car. So far I pulled the radiator support further out, replaced the passenger side door (it looks like someone tried to fix a dent in it by using a screwdriver on the side of the door), and replacing both fenders. I would like to paint it (practice before I do my monte!), but I'm unsure how much money I want to put in the car. I also need to pick up a set of side skirts for it since the quarter panel is wavy and doesn't match the new door (but it matches the dented old door).

So there's where I stand in a nutshell. So buy either the lebaron or the caprice!
